MEMBER RELEASE AGREEMENT — IDAHO ALPINE CLUB

In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in activities, events, and trips organized, sponsored, or led by the Idaho Alpine Club ("the Club"), I, the undersigned member, hereby acknowledge, agree, and represent as follows:

1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK. I understand that outdoor activities — including but not limited to hiking, backpacking, rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, skiing, paddling, rafting, caving, cycling, winter camping, conservation work, and trail maintenance — involve inherent and significant risks of property damage, bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. These risks include, but are not limited to: falls, falling objects, exposure to weather, wildlife encounters, drowning, avalanches, equipment failure, the negligence of other participants or trip leaders, and the limitations of rescue and medical care in remote areas. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.

2. PHYSICAL CONDITION. I represent that I am in good health and physical condition, have no medical condition that would prevent my safe participation, and am responsible for assessing my own ability to participate in any specific activity.

3. WAIVER AND RELEASE. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Idaho Alpine Club, its officers, directors, members, trip leaders, volunteers, and agents (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death sustained by me or any property belonging to me while participating in any Club activity, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise.

4. INDEMNIFICATION. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur arising out of my participation.

5. VOLUNTEER-LED ACTIVITIES. I understand that all Club activities are organized and led by volunteers, not professional guides. Trip leaders are fellow members sharing their knowledge — they are not responsible for my safety. Each participant is responsible for their own safety, equipment, and decisions.

6. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT. In the event of injury or illness, I consent to receive emergency medical treatment as deemed necessary, and I am responsible for all costs of such treatment.

7. PHOTO RELEASE. I grant the Club permission to use photographs taken during Club activities for non-commercial purposes such as the website, newsletters, and social media.

8. GOVERNING LAW. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Idaho. If any portion is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.

I have read this agreement carefully. I understand that by typing my name below as a digital signature, I am giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue the Released Parties. I sign this agreement freely and voluntarily.
