Give back to the trails that inspire outdoor adventures by helping preserve paths, restore habitats, and keep nature accessible for everyone.
Trail maintenance is how we give back to the outdoor spaces we love. Volunteer crews work on everything from clearing fallen branches and trimming overgrowth to building steps, installing drainage, and repairing trail markers. It's satisfying, hands-on work that leaves a lasting impact on every trail.
4–6 hours, typically 8am–2pm with a lunch break.
10–25 volunteers with experienced crew leaders.
Spring and fall are the busiest trail maintenance seasons with clearing, repairs and restoration projects. Summer focuses on trimming and maintenance, while winter includes trail marker installation and planning for upcoming work.
Maintenance days start with a safety briefing, tool distribution, and an overview of the day's projects. No prior experience is needed — our crew leaders teach you everything you need to know.
Projects vary by season and need. Spring and fall involve clearing winter debris and preparing trails for heavy use. Summer focuses on trimming overgrowth and repairing erosion damage while working at a comfortable pace with plenty of water and snack breaks.
