Trail maintenance is how we give back to the outdoor spaces we love. Volunteer crews work on everything from clearing fallen branches and trimming overgrowth to building steps, installing drainage, and repairing trail markers. It's satisfying, hands-on work that leaves a lasting impact on every trail.

Seasonal Note

Spring and fall are the busiest trail maintenance seasons with clearing, repairs and restoration projects. Summer focuses on trimming and maintenance, while winter includes trail marker installation and planning for upcoming work.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Maintenance days start with a safety briefing, tool distribution, and an overview of the day's projects. No prior experience is needed — our crew leaders teach you everything you need to know.

Projects vary by season and need. Spring and fall involve clearing winter debris and preparing trails for heavy use. Summer focuses on trimming overgrowth and repairing erosion damage while working at a comfortable pace with plenty of water and snack breaks.

Light Duty

Trail clearing, litter pickup, sign painting and light trimming. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Moderate Duty

Tread repair, drainage work, rock moving and brush clearing. Some physical effort required.

Heavy Duty

Stone step construction, bridge building and major erosion repair. Requires good fitness and confidence using tools.
